OUR FOUNDER
Toshira Maldonado is a seasoned birthworker, educator, and advocate with over 26 years of experience supporting Black mothers and families. As the founder of Most Beautiful W.O.M.B. Inc., she leads trauma-informed community initiatives focused on Black maternal health, mental wellness, breastfeeding awareness, and infant mortality prevention.
Her journey began in 1999, supporting pregnant women in recovery and quickly evolved into a life mission of service, education, and empowerment. A certified Full Spectrum Doula and Family Trauma Prevention Strategist, Toshira has brought compassionate care across the globe—including to mothers in Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
She holds a Master’s in Education (Trauma & Resilience focus) and a degree in Psychology. Toshira is a Birth Justice Institute Fellow, a member of the Atlantic County Commission on Women, and has been featured in The Grio and The Bold Maven. Above all, she is a proud wife and mother of five, using her voice and work to uplift and protect Black families everywhere.
OUR TEAM
At Most Beautiful W.O.M.B., our dedicated team is focused on empowering Black and Brown mothers and their families through comprehensive support services. We provide birth companion support, doula care, childbirth and lactation education, maternal wellness advocacy, and parent coaching—all through community engagement and outreach. We understand the deep mistrust many marginalized communities have towards the healthcare system, and we are here to provide the tools and advocacy needed to navigate these systems with confidence.
We empower BIPOC and Latinx communities by promoting liberated birth experiences and honoring the 42-day postpartum recovery, essential for early relational health. Our trauma-informed approach includes support through sister circles, empowerment groups, and advocacy, particularly for families navigating the Family Regulation System (CPS). Rooted in community care and service, our mission supports Birth Justice, Black Maternal Health, Black Infant Mortality Prevention, and Black Breastfeeding. We recognize the importance of the first 1,000 days in a mother and baby’s life and work to improve health outcomes for Black and Brown women and girls. Join us in building sisterhood and driving positive transformation in maternal and infant health.
